To Play More

New Year's Resolutions -- that's what started this whole crazy shoot.  In the soul-searching that I always do at the end of December, reflecting back as well as looking ahead to another year, evaluating what to keep doing, stop doing or start doing again, one thing I resolved to do was to use more of the energy and creativity I pour into home decor, photography props and costumes, on my own children.  The goal was to not simply use my creativity to dress them up in scratchy costumes, have them sit on vintage props and bribe them to smile at the camera -- that I have mastered.  The goal was to let them play, and simply capture their fabulous imaginings as they unfolded. So, in an endeavour of this scale, I needed to call on my fabulously talented friends, Angie of Button Up Boutique, and Julianna, of Red Rubber Studios, who just so happen to have children as delightful and creative as themselves.  I gathered all kinds of things I thought our children would love to play with, and then we stood back and giggled as we watched them imagine and create.   It was such fun to watch as a basket became a hat, a girl's top ended up as armour on a boy, a skirt became a veil.  And Julianna captured it all so beautifully as it happened.  It was amazing just to watch them play, to watch them build stories and forts and slip into their very real imaginary world.

A Bit of Sparkle for Your Wedding Day

Found Decor Company is not the typical wedding rental business -- you need those for your tablecloths, your stemware and the things you require 15 of.  In my little domain, there is often just one of each special treasure, hand-picked with high hopes that it will bring a bit of sparkle, maybe some warmth, and certainly a smile to you and your guests.
Found Decor Company best serves those do-it-yourselfers, who want to pull in some "WOW".  I specialize in unique, French-, shabby- and industrial-chic pieces with a splash of homegrown.  I love the element of something a bit unexpected and pleasing, like pairing very rustic with fabulously ornate.
Found Decor pieces offer high impact for low investment.  My large furniture pieces, like my Sideboard as your dessert table, instantly make a hall feel classier and warmer.  Or rent one of my Loveseats for pictures, and then set it up in a little nook at your reception with a side table and some flowers.  Think of me as creating and collaborating with you in planning this amazing day.  Congratulations and let's chat!   Becky, Found Decor Company

Details

I quite like the Union Jack. I am fond of both ornate and simple, and often juxtapose the two.  And, I love detail. This shoot gave me the opportunity to combine all of this. When Amy, of Ames Photography, and I started talking about a bridal shoot, we tossed around some subtle accent colours like blush, champagne and grey.  Then, my faded little Union Jack flag caught my eye, and we decided to throw neutrals to the wind and play with that classic combination.  We invited some of our favourite local vendors to be a part of the fun, and Missy, of Sweet Little Sentiments, created beautiful invitations and detailed stationary.  Hattie, of Hattitude Jewellery, lent us a set of her gorgeous, hand-crafted jewellery.  Jennifer, of Zandy Cakes, caught our vision and delivered a cake and cupcakes that were beautifully British.  Toby, of Petals of Love, gave us all the baby’s breath we could ever want.  Isabel, of Retreat Salon, spun Anny’s hair into a completely classy up-do. Jonathan, a childhood friend, popped by and let us play with his perfect Mini Cooper.  And of course, Anny and Rob, who have been married for 10 years, stole the show.  I had the very great privilege of styling the shoot, and providing the furniture, props, costumes and the little touches to pull it off.  After all, I do love detail.
